The date is set, March 10th will be my first official day as an AT thru hiker. I just recently booked my hotel room for the night of March 9th just outside of Amicalola falls state park. This is where the approach trail to Springer Mountain begins. The Approach trail is not an official portion of the AT, however it is only an extra 8 miles of a 2100 mile expedition.
Not only is my date set, but I finally have almost all of the gear I will need to start. I have not seen some of the more exciting things such as my pack and sleeping bag, but they are waiting for me down in Mississippi.
